ALZHEIMERS POSTER SERIES DEPICTING THE STAGES OF THE DISEASE
These posters were designed with the intent of all three flowing together, but also having a separate story. Each design depicts the details of what a patient struggles within each stage of Alzheimer's.
STAGE ONE: FORGETFULNESS —
The first stage of Alzheimer’s, and the beginning of the disease: Losing small bits of memory, difficulty retaining new information, and a loss of self identity/struggles with personality. This poster displays a loss of personality through a subject’s shadow. The purple space evokes an emotion of emptiness and a sense of something fading.
STAGE TWO: IDENTITY LOSS —
The Second stage of Alzheimer’s, the middle stage of the disease: Losing large bits of memory and forgetting key information in daily life, difficulty communicating, and difficulty in completing complex tasks. This poster displays a complex relationship between the subject and the daily tasks it needs to complete. No facial features have been given to increase anxiety and display hardships in communication and losing one’s identity.
STAGE THREE: COMPLETE LOSS — The third stage of Alzheimer’s, and the last stage of the disease: Severe loss of memory, loss of ability to communicate, and a complete loss of self-identity. At this stage, more than likely the subject needs assistance with daily tasks such as eating. This poster displays the assistance from others and medical attention the subject will need, all while drowning in all the hardships of losing one mind.
