Open nightly since July 2014, provides a cozy place for you to enjoy the cinematic art form alongside a diverse, curious community — film fans, art aficionados, and good ol’ moviegoers of all ages and interests here in Akron, and across Northeast Ohio. From indie flicks and docs to cult classics and more, we’re passionate about playing great cinema worth seeing on the big screen, and we make it a point to have something exceptional for everyone.

THE NIGHTLIGHT MARK — was designed with the intention of finding what visually represents what the company stands for. Being a community-centered cinema that welcomes all, we wanted to add elements from these ideas and wanted it to scream those concepts.

35MM FILM STRIP — The first concept designed into the mark is the visual representation of cinema, and what molded it — 35mm film. Being accurately measured, the mark itself was designed to take the shape of a cut portion of 35mm film strips. With that in mind, the design, creating figure-ground of the sides of the film gives a sense of community and a sense of belonging.

THE CANDLE STICKS — In the center of the mark, the candle sticks and flame represent the “i’s” in The Nightlight’s name and are created to give a sense of being vintage or classical. The candlestick design also creates negative space showcasing an “N” shape in the inner part of the logo representing the first letter of our name.

THE WORDMARK — The bottom of the mark holds the company’s name and is designed using an elegant art deco-like typeface that was created just for the mark. It showcases fun, and elegance with its rounded shapes, and the “G”s in the wordmark represent speech bubbles visualizing that sense of community.
